Quite a few years ago i got my first Mac paint pot which was in the shade Bare Study, i think i chose that shade as it was a light champagne colour with shimmer and i was and still am more of a lipstick girl so tend to keep my eye makeup quite simple. I think the problem i had with this shade was i always found it too hard to use as stand alone eyeshadow, it had dried out and i started to dislike the shimmer.
Only recently did i realise alot of people use Paint Pots and the Mac Eye Paints as a primer for their eye makeup and a base to help the eyeshadow last longer. So i decided to look for a shade that could even out my eye area, lighten my eyes and it had to be matte- no shimmer!
And this is what i purchased last weekend- Soft Ochre Paint Pot. I was between this and painterly but i decided to go for the more yellow-toned shade as it was a better match for my skin. I found it quite hard to get this and it took three different Mac counter attempts and alot of Sailor dressed makeup artists to get hold of this because it was just so busy everywhere i went! But if you do live around London i would recommend the Mac counter at House of Fraser Near Monument tube station as it was lovely and quiet, i think alot of people forget that one!
I use my fingers to apply this to my eyelids and blend in, i think as well as using this as a base to put shadow on top off i could also wear it on its own for those really lazy makeup days. The Paint Pots are £14.50 each. Link
